Cordele, Georgia – The Historic SAM Shortline Railroad kicks off it’s 2018 season this week with it’s annual Valentine’s Dinner Train and three additional full-day excursions during the month of February.
The Valentine’s Dinner Train has become such a favorite with couples that seats sold out almost immediately after the schedule was released at samshortline.com in January. In response to this demand, the railroad added a “no meal’ option in coach for passengers wanting to take the rare evening train ride and forgo the formal dinner. Those passengers will be treated with free popcorn and Valentine treats during the ride.
On President’s Day Weekend, the SAM Shortline will twice visit President Jimmy Carter’s hometown of Plains as well as his boyhood farm at Archery operated by the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site. The February schedule will wrap up with a trip from Downtown Cordele to Plains.
The February Schedule for the Historic SAM Shortline Railroad is:
Wednesday, February 14 – Valentine’s Dinner Train
Friday, February 16 – Presidential Flyer
Saturday, February 17 – Presidential Flyer
Saturday, February 24 – Watermelon Express
Details of each itinerary can be found at samshortline.com/schedule along with online ticket purchasing.
